Be Active

20181208_000013.jpg

Hello to All,

How are you feeling this week?

I am sending over to you all the sunshine and positive vibes I can until we meet again.

Now let’s go back on track with the essential part of wellbeing and let’s discuss being active.

I know once more there are many interpretations to this. In my view, being active means putting things in motion.

The motion is in being active!

There are so many ways to incorporate this in your daily routine in order to create your best/happiest and more confident life.

It can take the form of wellness and mindful activities such as spending time doing a meaningful activity that brings you joy, and not necessarily one that requires a lot of energy.

I have so many times heard about the benefit of colouring or doing other crafts like knitting or crocheting, hence why I started the colouring sessions which I hope to start again soon.

My husband developed a daily wellbeing routine by playing the guitar. He started in a bid to learn an instrument and developed it in a mindful routine.

Hal Elrod mentions taking on running same as Alastair Humphreys. Certain I could find more examples to give you.

Sometimes there can be a tendency to think that people always like to be busy therefore having the needs to incorporate hobbies, however it is the creativity of the action that brings satisfaction.

Being active also refers to wanting to surround or should I say immerse oneself with wellness. Creating a self-care routine doesn’t have to costly or time consuming, the effort should not exceed the benefit but complement it.

Colouring or art therapy lift moods, decreases anxiety and stress and will instilled a sense of inner calm and relaxation.

Physical activity of any kind will support a good mental health by reducing stress, anxiety and overall increase our self esteem giving us a clearer mind.

Knitting and crocheting bring you the same benefits as above like reduction of stress, anxiety and depression. It basically has the same effect as meditating. Focusing in the mindful motion of the needles intertwining brings an unrequited bonus by improving our motor skills leading to slowing down the onset of dementia and above all improve your mood.

Finding an activity to do is not difficult, the significance of it is finding peace and happiness within.

Did you think I was going to finish on this? Well, I couldn’t without mentioning my favourite activity.

Journaling!

I can’t stress enough how beneficial putting thoughts to paper is relieving and freeing.

Journaling is a discipline that demonstrate a commo thread between thoughts in your heads and feelings in your body.

I do hope that you find solace in these words.
And if you can and it is fitting that you will take action to be more active.

This is not an exhaustive list, as I could have mentioned way much more, share your version in the comments I’d be happy to read about it.

In this month newsletter, the focus is on supporting amazing small businesses that will help you “Be active”.

Will you be up to it?

See you soon to continue this discussion.

Connecting

Connect

Hello,

How has everyone been keeping?

In my last post I talked about reconnecting and it’s effect through Forest Bathing, this time I embracing the Connecting element of Wellbeing.

Wellbeing incorporates different steps that are all interconnected and each as important.

Here are the steps that supports each and everyone of us sustain all-inclusive wellbeing:

Connect

Be Active

Take Notice

Keep Learning

Give

In this blog I’ll focus on Connect.

Connecting can be done in many ways and they will support your evolution on your wellness journey.

Could it be that your focus is on connecting with people that will help you in a deeper and more effective way to surpass a feeling you have or have been having for a while, like pros that unlock barriers in your life, this could be a therapist, a reiki practitioner, a yoga instructor or any
professionals whom will allow you to connect and link your emotions to your behaviours.

Could it be that you’re seeking to connect with others who will be with you on a level of understanding and therefore they become a companion in the adventure you both like.

What about connecting with nature? The feeling of intimacy attached to it, allows individuals to let their emotions submerged them and let them be without any restrictions.

Connecting remains an amazing word, it is grounding and often defines how 2 or more beings get interlocked for a story to begin and this can be from a mother to a son, creating a bond as they meet for the first time, to people getting together and forming couples, to getting to know new people and
forming unlikely fulfilling relationships. There is no telling what you’ll find and there is the beauty of it all!

The side of Connecting that speaks to me is the one that happens within, the one that only belongs to you and that no one can replicate or even understand because only you holds the key to what is in your heart, your whole being.

I love getting to grip with the breath (five months ago I learned to connect through deep breathing with an hypnotherapist - more on that later - it felt like I gave myself a new lease literally), it is “it” that travels within me sending positive, calm, restorative and regenerative waves within my being.

I get to a place through meditation that allows me to let go of any inhibitions and freely connect within.

What is connecting for you? What does the word “connect” means and where does it take you? Have you ever stopped and looked at your connections? Are you purposefully surrounding yourself in a healthy environment?

Are your connections aligning with your values and therefore bringing more happiness in your life?

Selflove and self-worth are core in wellbeing therefore I ask you to constantly re-evaluate how you are connecting, allowing yourself to live your best “Otentik” life always!

Time to Emerge!

And reconnect…

Hello to all!

Have you ever had the feeling that your winters often rhymed with hibernation, well for myself it has been a feeling that was pretty much constant for a good part of 2019?

Often when going through periods dealing with emotions, you can feel like all is gone or nothing can bring you joy or happiness. My thought of this is that emotions are often like a river or the sea the tide is often high as it is low.

As I have been sharing on social media post or videos, healing is part of my journey, so in January I decided to emerge from the cocoon and embrace mothering myself, being a little selfish and allowing myself to receive the joy and happiness I deserve.

All in all, it’s work in progress…

In part of this healing adventure I am on, I decided to experience different ways to find peace and calm, but also to get restorative energy.

I was drawn to Forest Bathing and was curious about this Japanese practice called Shinrin-Yoku (which means spending more time around trees). A mindful practice of contemplating quietly trees and being in nature connecting deeply to our surrounding. It is proven to reduce stress levels and depression but also boost energy levels.

You must be open minded and allow yourself to be immersed in the process. And no, it is not about getting rid of your clothes and running around naked in the forest (lol).

Allow me to talk to you about my experience of Forest Bathing with the lovely and insightful Natural Connector, Deborah.

Before meeting I got a little message from Deborah, letting me know how the day was going to go and what to prepare which was great because it allowed me to mentally prepare for the experience.

I spent the week talking it over with my friends, colleagues and anyone interested to listen in my excited plethora of information on Forest Bathing, well at least what I had googled.

On the Sunday morning, as I set out to leave my house, I glimpsed at my husband’s inquisitive gaze, I laughed and left with butterflies in my stomach.

We all met at the intersection beginning of the Forest, we were a good group of about 10 to 15 people I guess, and we all seemed excited even in the cold weather.

Deborah introduced us to the concept and what sticked with me at the time is when she said the Forest bathing was like “Yoga through Nature”. The journey lasted about 3 hours and it was broken down with activities and silenced wonderings. Deborah knew every nooks and crannies and guided us with a safe and caring manner.

The activities we did all along aligned with our existential beings, through the five elements of nature, Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.

I felt so many feelings on the emotional spectrum, I was projected back to childhood as I rediscovered the intensity of energy within the forest. Not only I emerged but I reconnected with myself at a deeper level.

The birds singing, their callings, the breeze against my cheekbones and the refreshing scent of the soil, all like a grounding element that had gone missing in my life.

This experience allowed me to be generous with my emotions without limits taking my body to a calmer place of pure bliss and love.

If you ever feel like you want to try Forest Bathing, which I would highly recommend why not join Deborah, and prepare yourself to receive a discharge of joy and delight.

Until next time, prioritise your self-care.

Patience
